The best golf courses in Hua Hin

Black Mountain Golf Club, one of the best golf courses in Hua Hin, Thailand
Black Mountain—one of Hua Hin’s two elite-level golf courses.

Let’s be clear about it: Hua Hin has two elite-level golf courses, Black Mountain and Pineapple Valley (formerly Banyan). If you only want to play five-star golf on your Hua Hin golf holiday, the best plan is to play both of them twice.

Want more variety? These Hua Hin golf courses are also well worth a game:

  • Springfield — a dependable, well-presented layout.
  • Palm Hills — a popular choice that fits easily into a week.
  • Majestic — a good addition for groups playing five or six rounds.
  • Sea Pines — maintenance can be patchy, but the closing holes have sea views that make it worth the trip.

Driving in from Bangkok? Break up the trip with a round at Nikanti or Suwan on the way down. Both sit on the western side of Bangkok, so you arrive in Hua Hin with a round already done. For a closer look at each course, read our 5 best golf courses in Hua Hin.

Where to stay on a Hua Hin golf holiday

We choose our Hua Hin golf hotels on value and location, so you are close to the beach, the restaurants and the drive to the first tee. These are our personal favourites:

  • 5-star: Putahracsa and The Standard, Hua Hin
  • 4-star: Asira, Maven, Stylish and G Hua Hin
  • 3-star: Royal Pavilion, for groups who want to put the budget into green fees

Not sure which suits your group? Tell us your budget and room mix and we’ll match the hotel to the golf.

The best restaurants in Hua Hin

Evenings in Hua Hin are relaxed, and the food scene is better than its size suggests. Two places we send every golf group:

  • Father Ted’s — live music and a great atmosphere, run by Irish owner David. The best spot for a post-round pint.
  • Ken’s Kitchen — Chef Ken’s food is top-tier, with presentation to match. Book it for the big night of the trip.

Also worth a visit: Cicada Market for a lively evening of street food, art and local stalls, and Monsoon Valley vineyard for a long lunch among the vines.

Things to do in Hua Hin between rounds

Hua Hin doesn’t have a standout headline tour or a quality elephant sanctuary, so we are selective about what we recommend. These are the tours and excursions worth your rest day:

  • Kui Buri National Park — see wild elephants in their natural habitat. This is the best elephant experience in the area.
  • Eat like a local food tour — the quickest way to find the dishes and spots you would never find on your own.
  • Thai cooking course — a fun, hands-on half day that works well for mixed groups and partners.

Hua Hin golf packages

People choose Hua Hin for the chilled vibe, courses that are only about 20 minutes away and excellent value. Every one of our Hua Hin golf packages is tailor-made: we arrange your hotel, tee times, private transfers and on-the-ground support around your group, your budget and the number of rounds you want to play.

Hua Hin is at its best as part of a bigger trip, so most of our Thailand golf packages pair it with Bangkok and/or Chiang Mai. Comparing regions? See our top 4 golf destinations in Thailand.

Black Mountain and Pineapple Valley (formerly Banyan) are Hua Hin’s two elite-level courses. Springfield, Palm Hills, Majestic and Sea Pines are also well worth playing.

Four to six rounds works well for most groups. If you only want five-star golf, play Black Mountain and Pineapple Valley twice each.
